One day, a New York creative director landed in the middle of México, picked up a brush and a can of black house paint and, for the first time in her life, started to paint floor to ceiling. Hello, Black Line Crazy!

Twenty-one months and two successful exhibitions later in Australia and México, van de Wiel reinterpreted her black-and-white-abstract work across a limited edition collection of accessories, fashion, fabrics, furniture and more. “After all, art has a pulse. It belongs in every day life. Not just on walls,” she says.

Scaling down images of her paintings and working with artisans, printers and makers in México City and León, she created a bold collection of vegan leather messenger bags, totes and zippered portfolio sleeves that spark the wearer’s style statement. In addition, she collaborated with master weavers and expert artisans to design the first BLC Wool Collection of handwoven area rugs and 6ft  long throws. The workmanship of The Wool Collection reflects the spirt of our collaborative artisans whose communities we support. Using ethically-sourced wool from the State of Guanajuato, each piece is interpreted from a BLC original painting. Watch this space!
